C’est Bon! Twago Keeps Growing with French Launch

By Conor Rushby |

Berlin-based twago has gone through some rapid expansion in recent months – doubling turnover and projects each quarter – and there’s no sign of it slowing down with Thursday set to see a launch in France. In addition, the cloud working platform for freelancers has also taken on Christoph Burbes, formerly of madvertise, as director of PR and communications.

Founded by Gunnar Berning, Maria Lindinger, and Thomas Jajeh, twago has become one of Berlin’s success stories, and last June received $3 million in its Series A funding round, with German Media Pool Venture Capital (GMPVC) among the investors.

The platform helps startups open the door to international, flexible recruitment of designers, programmers, marketers, and so on. Since 2010, twago has seen projects and jobs worth in excess of €60 million, while its clients now have access to the talents of 166,000 freelancers and agencies from 177 countries. It already has a presence in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain and Italy.

And as part of the GMPVC deal, the company had a ten-week television advertising campaign on N24, as well as a connection to a wealth of expertise in media, investment and entrepreneurship.

Gunnar Berning, CEO of twago, said: “In 2013 twago is going to further establish its position as number one in Europe and to launch further new markets as well. Therefore we need a strong communications and PR department. Christoph is an experienced communications manager and will strengthen twago with his expertise as well as driving the international expansion with increased PR activities.”
