Startupbootcamp Berlin is finishing with a bang after its three month acceleration program. Its demo day will see ten budding companies including LiquidState, Weavly, Capsule.fm, frestyl, ItsPlatonic, Credport,Raidarrr and Brisk pitching to a crowd of investors. They are an international bunch as well – the startups involved in SBC Berlin, which were whittled down from more than 300, come from nine different countries. Tickets are sold out, but there is a waiting list. From 2pm at Umspannwerk.
The Portfolio Night for GMPVC should also be an interesting affair. The advertising-for-equity investment firm has on its books 9flats and twago, among others. It should provide insights into the package of advertising companies might expect to receive, and a presentation of the relative successes of their portfolio companies. Thursday
Apps and the City is a conference to discuss the benefits releasing public transport information might bring for applications developers, transport companies and the general public. Joining the discussion will be Hans-Werner Franz, CEO of VBB, and Nicolas Zimmer, State Secretary in the Berlin Senate for Economics, Technology and Research. The talk will be followed up with presentations of possible ideas for making use of such data. In German; spectator tickets are free. At Supermarkt from 12pm.
Apps.berlin.js is dedicated to all things JavaScript, and this week’s edition will focus on the problem of finding reliable frameworks to give best coding practices and case studies. The discussion will centre on using libraries for building larger scale applications. Registration required, at co.up from 7pm.
Saturday
Random Hacks of Kindness is a global initiative for hackers to meet and set about solving global problems with technological solutions. That could be fighting corruption or getting restuarants to give away leftover food. At betahaus – time yet to be confirmed. Free to attend, but registration required.
The OpenTechSchool is putting on a meetup to help people from all walks of life learn coding together and share the experience. The aim is to get people to swap coding tips and help each other out. At Mein Haus Am See from 2pm. Entry is free, but register here first.
