German Startup Awards: Lieferheld, 6WK, SoundCloud Up for a Gong

It may just have lost its CEO amidst sniping over a fine levied for copying a rival’s information, but things are starting to look up for Lieferheld, which has been nominated for Startup of the Year in the German Startup Awards. The food delivery platform faces some stiff competition, however, in the shape of 6Wunderkinder – fresh off the successful release of Wunderlist 2 – as well as Trademob, Wimdu and, of course, SoundCloud.

A ceremony will take place on January 15 in Berlin where the awards, organised by The Next Web, will be handed out. And the beginning of the year is fast shaping up to be something of an awards season, with the Europas set to take place in the German capital just seven days later.

In all, the GSA will feature seven categories. In addition to the Startup of the Year, these include:

Best Web App: twago, SquadMail, Stylight, Paymill, Waymate

Best Mobile App: Stuffle, EyeEm, Streetspotr, orderbird, Gabi

Best Design: QUOTE.fm, Gidsy, EyeEm, Klash, Wooga

Best User Experience: QUOTE.fm, Gidsy, Readmill, Gabi, ResearchGate

Best (Co-)Founder: Christian Reber of 6Wunderkinder, Alexander Ljung of SoundCloud, Jens Begeman of Wooga, Miki Devic of Httpool and Ijad Madisch of ReseachGate

Best investor: Rocket Internet, Team Europe, Earlybird, Hackfwd, Wellington Partners

The 35 nominations have been selected from the 844 entries received since the awards were introduced by The Next Web and Startup Bootcamp four weeks ago. Now you have until 7pm on Tuesday January 15 to vote for your favourite. The winners will be invited to the TNW Conference Europe in Amsterdam from April 25-26.

TNW co-founder Patrick de Laive will be on hand to greet the winners. The event is part of the Startup Awards Tour through Europe, which also includes stops in the UK, Ireland, France, Romania, Poland, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and Denmark.
