The buzz around Berlin’s startup scene is mounting. If you were a newcomer to the Silicon Allee breakfast meet up group that met last Tuesday, you hopefully got a good impression of what’s brewing in this city, and why there’s so much talk in the blogosphere and media about Berlin.
During past few months, Berlin has been getting some love around the Web:
- WITN: London Is Gonna Be Pissed, But We Prefer Berlin for Startup, TechCrunch
- Startups and Investors both flock to Berlin, Next Conference
- Berlin on the Road to Becoming a Start-Up Mecca, Spiegel Online International
- Berlin: Germany’s high-tech startup capital, Associated Press
- And Then We’ll Take Berlin, Silicon Allee
Within the past few weeks, a lot has been happening in Berlin:
- 6Wunderkinder announced a new round of funding and started offering Wunderlist in the Mac App Store
- Team Europe re-organized and started Point Nine Capital, adding Christoph Janz to the mix
- 3M and Txtr finally announced they’d hooked up
- Amen started hiring
- Eye’em and Readmill threw a huge party that got busted by the cops
- Silicon Allee’s breakfast meet up had its largest turn out yet
- SiliconAllee.com launched
- Berlin’s (un?)official startup basketball league is now in full swing
Exciting times for Berlin. Excited that summer is here, too!
