Monday
The Fête de l’Entrepreneur is a chance to mingle with startup folk in friendly surroundings, be they entrepreneurs, VCs, or incubators, to expand your network. At Wohnzimmer from 8pm.
Tuesday
An informal gathering of of founders, freelancers and entrepreneurs is a chance to get to know others in the Berlin tech scene, in a small group atmosphere. Attendees will get to chat about their current projects, as well as to mingle with like-minded techies. It’s €6 a ticket, the location of the event is revealed upon registration. From 7pm.
Up.front are holding a meetup, focussing on web development and front end development topics. Gunnar Bittersmann, a front end developer for brands4friends, will be giving a speech, as will be Martijn Schreuder, founder of platform for experts Talentspender. At co.up from 7.30pm.
Tuesday and Wednesday
IBM Smart Camp is a chance to get up close with some of Europe’s hottest high-tech startups. On the first day, ten startups will be given intense coaching by top-class mentors including experienced founders and investors to sharpen up their pitches and business. Sadly it’s closed to applications, but on the second day, anyone interested can show up to the conference session, which will include speeches, final presentations of mentored startups and networking. Registration for this is now open, at the Radisson Blu Hotel.
Wednesday
Startup Day held at the Technische Universität Berlin will include a series of lectures and workshops dealing with issues close to the hearts of founders. The highlight will see senior figures from top Berlin startups Gidsy, EyeEm, 6Wunderkinder, Readmill, Amen, and SoundCloud on stage to dole out advice alongside two companies founded by TU students, Carzapp and Wurfkamera. Moderated by Silicon Allee’s David Knight, it’s a must for those seeking inspiration. Registration is open for the workshops prior to the Inspiration Talk which kick off at 12.30 am at Hardbergstraße 38, while the main talk itself starts at 6pm at the University’s Audimax auditorium. It’s free to attend, and no registration required, with an after party being held at betahaus from 8.30pm.
Axel Springer Media Impact, madvertise, and BASE_camp present the Mobilists talk, from mobilbranche. The main topic is mobile advertising. Speakers include Carsten Frien, CEO of madvertise and Esther Peoples, in charge of mobile sales at Axel Springer Media Impact. Topics to be discussed will be how mobile advertising has benefited thanks to developments such as richer media, audience targeting, location-based advertising and mobile real-time bidding. Thursday
Get ready to share your most painful business experiences at Berlin’s edition of FailCon. The aim is to learn from others mistakes to help sharpen up your own ideas. They have also got Dr. Alex von Frankenberg, managing director of the High-Tech Gründerfonds, Gunnar Berning CEO of twago, and Caroline Drucker, country manager for Etsy Germany speaking to offer up some high profile fails. Earlybird tickets are still going for €88. From 8.30am at the Jerusalemkirche.
Thursday and Friday
Open Strategies is billing itself as the summit of new thinking. It’s a new event to analyse the principles of open source and explore the implementation of open strategies in various fields. Organisers are welcoming decision-makers from business, science and the public sector, to attend, while there’s a huge volume of talks being held. Speaking, among many others, will be Ruben Abels, a designer at DesignArbeid, Amélie Anglade a developer at SoundCloud, and Larry Adams, previously of Google, of Narrative Science. Tickets are €99 for the two day event, or €50 for one day. Student rates are also available. From 10am both days at STATION Berlin.
Thursday – Sunday
The Startup Exchange Weekend is a must for budding startups and young companies in the digital media industry looking for targeted growth support, and help with implementing ideas and finding investment. On offer are discussions and workshops with industry experts in the picturesque surroundings of Hotel Schloss Herrenstein north of Berlin. Tickets are still going at €150 plus VAT, which includes two days full board at the hotel.
Friday
Rally Academy is an intensive and collaborative workshop designed to show off Rally Academy’s learning curriculum, followed by two talks about what it takes to live the entrepreneurial life and balancing the entrepreneur schedule and agenda, as well as advice on how to start executing your project. Speaking are Danilo Sierra, coordinator of the Rally Academy project, Pamela Hongsakul, a marketing & media consultant, and Jason Brown, writer and academic from the University of Freiburg. Saturday and Sunday
The BSC Open Hackathon promises to attract top software engineers, designers, product guys, and investors. Attendees will be put into teams, and can pretty much hack what they like, as the categories for hacking are broad: Social, photo, couponing, payments, advertising, games, real estate, education, finance, music, and travel. Kindles and iPads are up for grabs, and there will be plenty of opportunity for networking. Tickets are €25, at co.up from 9am Saturday.
