Berlin-based startup PressMatrix has attracted a seven-figure investment to help develop its platform allowing publishers to offer their content directly to iPads, Android tablets and smartphones. The service comes complete with elements including video, slideshows and e-shopping.

The money will come from the Investment Bank Berlin (IBB), business angel Henri Kühnert and the High-Tech Gründerfonds. Andreas Quake, senior investment manager at High-Tech Gründerfonds, said: “PressMatrix’s solution helps publishers to enter new digital markets in a mobile environment.”

PressMatrix will also receive financial support through IBB’s ProFIT program, which finances innovative Berlin-based companies. The exact figures for the overall investment have not been released.

“This investment allows us to further develop our technology and increase our market presence,” said Daniel Höpfner, founder and managing director of PressMatrix. “We will also hire more staff, since our service will be utilised by more and more publishers.” The company currently employs 15 people in Berlin, Hamburg and Dubai.
