SoundCloud to Represent Berlin at GA European Buffet

David Noel of SoundCloud will represent Berlin at the General Assembly European Buffet next month in London. As part of the week-long educational course for founders from across the continent, David will also be giving a talk on community building.

The event comes after GA, which has already successfully launched in world cities including New York and London, teamed up with Deutsche Telekom’s incubator hub:raum to provide a free accelerator course for mobile communications startups. And for those teams who don’t fancy shelling out for the trip, GA is running a sweep stake to win flights and accommodation.

General Assembly provides courses in entrepreneurship, technology, and design, and since launching in January last year it has spread to five countries. But the hub:raum partnership is its first foray into a non-English speaking country.

The European Buffet, held from November 12 to 18, will see each day being devoted to a particular topic of interest such as digital business models, marketing, and social media. Tickets are available for individual days, while  in the evening there will be talks by figures such as David Noel and State’s Alexander Asseily.

While General Assembly is purely educational, hub:raum will be hoping to inspire a new wave of startups which can then, if they wish, pitch to Deutsche Telekom for investment after nurturing ideas during the eight week course.

The course’s structure aims to sharpen up and develop concepts by tackling specific business areas each week, such as financing and marketing, while hub:raum’s mentors will be paired with startups to provide tips and expertise. The mentor list boasts, among others, Axel Schmiegelow of  denkwerkZoe Adamovicz of Xyologic and Philipp Kandal of skobbler.

You can apply for the free course until October 12; it starts on November 19. European Buffet tickets are on sale now, going at £600 for the full week.
