Trip to Silicon Valley with Evernote Up for Grabs at DT Hackathon

More than 150 techies are gearing up for the Deutsche Telekom hackathon this weekend – with an all-expenses trip to San Francisco to pitch at the Evernote conference in September up for grabs for the winners.

There are still a handful of (free) tickets left for the event at the time of going to press, which kicks off with the intro on Friday evening with hacking starting on Saturday morning. The hackathon will feature APIs from Evernote, DT’s developer ecosystem Developer Garden as well as Berlin’s own Moped.

You can check out details of the schedule on the event’s Hacker League page – the agenda includes workshops covering iOS development, the featured APIs in depth; branding, logo creation and design strategy; front end web design and dev; advanced web app UX; and Evernote for Android development.

There will also be a pitch training workshop on Sunday morning hosted by my good self and a special guest.

The trip to Silicon Valley for the winning team (or representatives of the winning team, depending on numbers) comes courtesy of Evernote – with DT promising to return the favour by bringing some people over to Berlin from the conference in September.

Other awesome prizes up for grabs at the hackathon include iPads, Android Nexus 7 tablets, two-day Evernote app workshops, Raspberry Pi’s and gift certificates. And, naturally, there will be all the usual swag, with t-shirts etc.

The hackathon takes place at Deutsche Telekom’s new innovation space at Winterfeldtstrasse 21. It starts at 6pm on Friday evening and then 8.30am on Saturday with hacking going all the way through to the pitches and judging on Sunday afternoon.

So get your sleep in at work on Friday and start dreaming up some brilliant and innovative ideas – and we’ll see you tomorrow evening!
