Event discovery platform Vamos has launched an update allowing users to search for cool things to do anywhere in the world as well as adding an extra social layer. Version 2.1 comes less than two months after 2.0 as the Vamos team eye rapid international growth. The new release has also coincided with a revamped website and app icon.
The main new feature is the “search this area” button which the Berlin-based startup’s CEO Luis-Daniel Alegria says will help expand event discovery to any city in the world. It will also allow them to ping their friends through a push notification.
Luis said: “We have really focused on making Vamos more useful for more people – the new website is a great way to give Vamos the facelift it needs to make it more attractive for new users and potential investors.”
Vamos, a finalist at the Mobile Premier Awards in Barcelona earlier this year, showcases more than 100,000 Facebook events around the world each week. The team have been releasing regular updates since the platform was launched last year while also looking to utilise crowdsourcing, most notably with the ‘hackday of destiny’ in 2012 which was repeated in January.
Most recently, the team took to Facebook to ask users to translate the platform into a variety of languages including Portuguese, French and Russia – and within two days, it had been largely achieved in some 12 different tongues.
