Check out Silicon Allee’s weekly rundown of all the best events going on in our fair city: what’s happening, what’s coming up and what may be of interest whether you be investor, entrepreneur or hacker.
Tuesday
It may be miserable out there at the time of writing, but August is still summertime in Berlin – and hopefully the skies will be clear and the air warm for Berlin Startup Culture’s event at the Yaam Beach Bar. The meet up is for pure networking and the exchange of contacts and knowledge. There will the opportunity to meet other startup people and talk about your projects. The organisers also promise it will be a good setting to meet co-founders and collaborators for your startup or get honest feedback on your work. At Stralauer Platz 35, from 7pm.
Thursday
The Berlin Tech Meetup returns to showcase some of the city’s finest companies, with participating startups each giving a demo of around five minutes. The startups will be showing off their technology and demo-ing exciting products. Each demo will be followed by Q&A, and there will be drinks during and afterwards (free while they last). As per usual, this is a very popular event, but you can join the waiting list here. At mobilesuite at Pappelallee 78/79, from 7.30pm.
Saturday
The Service Design Workshop is an event which teaches methods and tools of service design aimed at startups. Service design goes beyond design in its traditional form (shape, aesthetics, usability etc.) and also incorporates strategic planning for service ecosystems, business design and modeling. The workshop will provide an introduction to service design, its main methods and the tools needed to create successful, useful and desirable services. Buy your ticket here. At agora at Mittelweg 50, 10am-6pm.
Sunday
This one’s a little out of our usual jurisdiction – but if you happen to be down at the Pirate Summit in Cologne this week, you can try your hand at Gründerpokern or founder poker. There are prize worth €8,000 up for grabs, and you can check out a video of the previous event here. Tickets cost €59 and are available here. At the Gallery Artroom at Ludwig Strasse 1a in Cologne, from 5pm.
