The established and new Berlin startups employ 35.3 people on average, well over double the national number, totalling over 78,000 people, half of whom come from abroad. Watch out Silicon Valley, Berlin’s coming for you. Data originally collected from startupdetector report 2019 & 2020, Dt. Startup Monitor 2020, dealroom.co |

? Endnote:We celebrated our 10 year anniversary recently (see above photo). Thank you to the family that joined us at Berliner Berg Brewery. And thank you for your support and readership. I couldn’t wrap this issue without mentioning the German election results. While the result may not move Germany towards a green economy as fast as I’d hoped, rather than feel disappointed, I’m reminded that we in the tech and startup community are not the mainstream. We are the outliers, the ones who already live in a future world where things function better and more fairly. We should not expect people from outside of our community to understand our vision for sustainability, opportunity equality, creative business freedom, and the end of having to submit every official document by post (or fax) ? Instead we should continue to lead by example, show what’s possible, inspire others to broaden their imagination, and to build solutions to the big problems of our time. Let’s get to work on building the world we want to live in, and eventually, the politicians will catch up. Cheers for reading,AndrewIf you have feedback or ideas about providing more value in the newsletter, please share your feedback in this form.?If you enjoyed this newsletter why not forward it to a friend or colleague? |
