Berlin will be one of the main investment focus areas for the new American partner at London-based VC firm Connect Ventures. Sitar Teli previously spent seven years at Doughty Hanson and was involved with Berlin mainstay SoundCloud.
Connect, which was founded in May and raised an initial €16 million for its first fund, demonstrated its interest in the German capital last week by leading a €500,000 round in Berlin startup Ondango.
Sitar will be the third partner at the early stage VC, joining Pietro Bezza and Bill Earner. Pietro said: “Our ambition at Connect Ventures is to build a great firm that serves entrepreneurs across Europe and Sitar is a key part of that.”
Sitar previously served as board director of MegaZebra and well as board observer of SoundCloud and Handmade Mobile. She will focus on seed and A round investments in consumer Internet, consumer mobile and Web infrastructure.
She said: “One thing I advise entrepreneurs to do is start a business in an area they love. I decided it was time to take my own advice and do something entrepreneurial within venture capital.”
And Berlin, alongside London, will be the focus of her work, the company confirmed, as the city continues to cement its position as the hottest tech hub in Europe.
