Check out Silicon Allee’s weekly rundown of all the best events going on in our fair city: what’s happening, what’s coming up and what may be of interest whether you be investor, entrepreneur or hacker.

Wednesday

Pharma giant Bayer is hosting its Grants4Apps presentation which will feature a variety of healthcare startups. Kemal Malik, head of global development at Bayer, will be giving a keynote. The evening will also include food, drinks and networking. Sign up here. At Muellerstrasse 178, from 7pm.

Thursday

The second Hardware Berlin meet up will take place at the Wye, in co-operation with the TechCrunch Disrupt Europe conference. The event will feature a keynote by noted angel investor Christophe Maire and a pitch contest with five hardware startups competing to win an exhibitor spot at the Disrupt event in Berlin in October. There will also be a chance for networking and demonstrations – so bring your hardware projects to show off. Tickets have just sold out, but you can join the waiting list here. At Skalitzer Strasse 86, from 6.45pm.

Friday

Startups across Berlin are throwing open their doors for Startup Safary, giving everyone the chance to meet the founders and their teams as well as network with tech folk from across Europe. Participants will be able to take part in office tours, workshops and Q&A sessions in offices scattered across the city, creating their own schedule or following one of the pre-ordained routes. The idea is to give ‘ordinary’ people an insight into the Berlin startup scene and what it’s like to work for a tech company. You can buy your tickets here. At various locations, all day.

Friday also marks the start of a 24-hour hackathon offering the winners a trip to the Dublin Web Summit. It’s being organised by Developer Garden, Deutsche Telekom’s dev network, and Silicon Valley-based cloud service startup Box as part of the Lange Nacht der Startups (LNdS). The event is free to enter and takes place on September 6 and 7 in the Karlsson Penthouse on Gendarmenmarkt. Get your tickets here. At Markgrafenstrasse 37, from 6pm.

TEDx Berlin’s City 2.0 event will include some great talks and performances. It coincides with the IFA conference, and looks at how the world’s cities will cope with the challenge of ever-higher urban growth. How will living conditions change as urban populations swell? As always with TEDx, the list of speakers is an interesting and eclectic one. You can get your ticket here – and get 20 percent off by using the promotion code ‘TEDxBerlin2013’. At the ICC, from 11am-5pm Friday and Saturday.

Saturday

The main LNdS event kicks off on Saturday. Presented by Deutsche Telekom, Amazon WebServices and other partners, the event will see the public invited to check out the tech scene for themselves, with 70 startups chosen from 170 applicants to exhibit their products and who they are. It’s an ideal opportunity for curious Berliners to see what all the startup fuss is about. Tickets to the Lange Nacht der Startups cost €5 – buy them here – and that will give you personal access to the 70 companies in fields including music, gaming, shopping, communication and e-commerce, as well as startups founded by women, which will all have their own stands to show off their products and offer a few surprises as well. At Französische Strasse 33 a-c, from 5pm.
