SoundCloud has launched a new partnership with Sonos, a wireless HiFi system that incorporates multi-room speakers. The integration will see SoundCloud tracks and playlists become available via the Sonos controller app, making it easier to send them to your home entertainment system.
The Berlin-based startup becomes the first audio publishing platform to stream to Sonos, allowing creators direct access into users’ homes.
In addition, users will be able to listen to likes and playists from their SoundCloud profiles and access their followers and the users they follow directly, all from within the Sonos app. There will also be the ability to add comments to tracks, publish sounds and use incremental search – restuls per letter typed.
For creators, meanwhile, SoundCloud hopes that the integration will provide a better way to build audiences by making access to original work much easier for Sonos users.
SoundCloud, one of the Berlin startup scene’s best known exports, is a platform to share sounds, be it music, mixes, podcasts and more. According to the company, 12 hours of music and audio are uploaded every minute.
Recently, a new SoundCloud iOS app was launched, while the company – which raised more than €44 million earlier this year – moved into swanky new offices as the cornerstone tenant of the Factory last month.
