Bundesliga Star Lewandowski Invests in Startups Via Protos VC

Here's something we almost missed – Polish football ace Robert Lewandowski, one of the biggest starts in Germany's Bundesliga, is putting some of his millions into startups. The Borussia Dortmund striker, who has agreed a controversial move to bitter rivals Bayern Munich in the summer, has become a partner in Protos Venture Capital, according to a story on Polish startup blog bitspiration last week. On its website, Protos boasts of having 40 years experience in business development, and its investment portfolio features seven startups including docplanner.com, Berlin-based scondoo and Positionly, which can also count Point Nine Capital among its investors. Axel Springer's Uli Schmitz and Fee Beyer of hub:raum are dusting off their handlebars and getting ready to saddle up for the Techbikers challenge. The pair are the VIP participants in the Prague to Berlin cycle ride, which is aimed at promoting relationships between tech scenes in the city as well as raising money for a good cause. Uli is head of the Axel Springer Plug and Play accelerator while Fee is the program manager of Deutsche Telekom's equivalent. Yet the physical posters with 'tear-off' tabs are still a common sight in cities like Berlin or London. And so it's not a surprise that someone has taken the idea of these flyers and digitized it. ‘Spotify for TV’ Magine Set for German Launch After $19m Series A

Turn on, tune in and drop out – Magine, a Swedish cloud-based cable TV service dubbed the 'Spotify of television', is coming to Germany after closing a $19 million (€14.6m) Series A. The platform is making its much-awaited first steps into international growth having secured the funding from a group of unnamed investors from both Sweden and further afield. Describing itself as like Aereo without the hardware, Magine provides TV live, time-shifted and recorded across connected devices without the need for a set top box or cables.
